Hi guys,
First message here so better introduce myself, Im Gareth from Bridgend in South Wales but work in Swansea marina. But even the best of us need nelp sometimes so here I am.
My dad has just bought a 1990 Fairline Corniche and we've been doing some bits and bobs to it, including rewiring the Eberspacher. It didn't work at all when we got the boat, someone had a bad attempt at wiring it so I unplugged everything and started again. We got it all running just using the old Vent/Off/Heat switch that was in the boat but it was when we tried adding a thermostat in the other night that the trouble started. We tried following the wiring diagrams in the manaul and put the thermostat inline with the blue wire going to the switch. When we turned the thermostat up, we then discovered that we'd been running the heat on low for the last couple of weeks and that its now got a high aswell. Problem is all the thermostat does is switch between high and low, and when all the doors and windows are closed low is enough to get it sweltering in the boat. Has any one else put a thermostat in one. I though about maybe using a 2 stage thermostat that would put it on low if the desired temp was only 2/3 degrees higher than ambient, but then on high if it was more so it would warm everything up quicker. If we can we want to be able to keep the option of using both settings so if anyones got a simplified (and more importantly English labelled) wiring diagram I'd be most greatful. I've asked a few of the local fitters in the marina as well as the local diesel/truck specialist we know, but because of the age of the heater everyones either forgotton them or too young to have worked on them (I was 5 when our boat was made, lol). I've fitted a few brand new Airtronic ones, but they're all electronic so nothing I can cross over.
Thanks
Gareth
