Eberspacher D4 servicing

Hello Group

My 2yr. old Eberspacher D4 has started to smoke a little resulting in deposits on the transom near the exhaust.

On startup there seems to be very little smoke and also it seems fine when running, it may be smokey on the shutdown cycle which i have not seen as yet.

I need a little pointer on how to service , clean glo plug and and filters etc or should I just bite the bullet and get the service company in to do it?

I have been quoted £250 for a service and parts replacement but the chap needs to see the unit operating first.

Cant find any servicing info online for the D4 only the D1lc unit


any thoughts appreciated

Thanks PVB for the link thats what I was looking for last night .

Its sounds like the unit is coked up but will check the fault codes as it operates fine and always starts ok

I have an eberspacher D4L for more than 20 years now and it still works perfectly , every two years I dismantle the burner which is very easy ( just acouple of screws ) and clean the inside with gasoline or thinner also the glowplug . It is normal that it smokes at startup and cutdown .
