Well can it be done?
With a little care you can disassemble the components and I've now got the motor out and apart.
The brushes are shot, the armature is worn and one of the bearings is buggered, I'm about to take it to an electric motor specialist to see what they can do with it as I really don't fancy giving Eber £250.00ish.
I'll let you know what happens.

Hi alec, I sucessfully replaced the bearings in the motor to my old D1. So the rest must be doable. Have an airtronic now, wish i'd stuck with the older one and fixed it when the motor finally gave up completely and i just put a newer airtronic in.

I get alot of parts from ebay from a seller called sarkblue, currently has the D2 motors for 86 quid! ive emailed him before to get parts he didnt have listed at the time, and he got them for me. Currently fighting with my airtronic as its playing about. It may get ripped out and replaced with a propex system if i cant fix it though!

Yep, mines an Airtronic as well, I found a motor assembly on Ebay for £70.00 (without the plastic impellor) so while I'm waiting I thought I'd have a bash. John over at TA Spares in Chatham has got the motor and thinks he can repair it.
I've got a combination of sundry heaters going at the moment. :)

I'm waiting for a replacement thermostat for fine. Mines up the creek. Interestingly, the new one (801 series?) has diagnostics and was only just over 50 quid. Worth having i think just to be able to see why its broken down the next week.

Needless to say i cant do anything until that arrives, next day delivery didnt arrive cause of the snow!

All tickety boo and running well.
It cost me £25.00 to get the brushes made up and clean the armature, eight pounds for the bearings. Happy bunny really.
Alex, wouldn't it run on the internal temp sensor?
Mine came with a 701 and doesn't have a thermostat, I recently bought a room thermo which was cheaper from Eber than Ebay!

No it wouldnt run on the internal sensor, or the new one now for that matter, but i have a few fault codes logged which i can investigate.

Do have to be carefull with ebay for parts, as some people do indeed sell bits dearer than the dealers. Also use Mellor Auto Electrical (they have an online store) for parts. South East Autos at tovil are ok but tend to order in things than stock them - quicker to mail order!

I tried for a year to find a replacement blower motor.... exactly the same problem as yours. Tried buying the Bosch motor from suppliers, but that was over £200. Bought a complete unit from ebay for £100 only to find the blower was shot - and note - whilst the same model it was on older version and the motor was a different size....

I started looking for brushes, but the fittings are quite specific....and would have had to bodge it....
