Eberspacher controller connections

Does anyone know enough about older Eberspacher heaters to tell me exactly what the connections are on my controller, and what I should expect to see across which terminals with a multimeter?

I think it’s a 301 series controller.

I’m trying to diagnose whether my thermostat on the controller is duff…

I’ve spent hours now reading through old forum posts, the content on LeTonkinois site, and various Eberspacher manuals. I’ve even had a big hand from ChatGPT!

I just can’t find anything that matches my connections and controller exactly, or explains clearly how each terminal controls the operation. The wire colours don’t seem to align with the standard colours in the manuals, and I can’t work out what every terminal does.

Any pointers or answers much appreciated!

I just rewired mine but it's older than yours with a separate 3 position vent/off/heat switch. Mine is a D3L and probably with original switch and separate thermostat.

My switch has three connections - a red, yellow and a double black. That probably does the same as the switch on your thermostat with 3 positions.

My thermostat has 4 connections pink(+), black, blue and brown(-).

It looks as if yours has the 7 connections of mine all in one unit. In the attached manual I think your controller is 3.1.1 with 7 connections. A detailed examination of this may give you answers. The thermostat adds an extra higher level of heating on mine when running on heat setting. The red light comes on when it's calling for heat.

i was relieved that it all worked on reassembly and hope not to have to disturb it again! Good luck.
