Eberspächer thermostat

Last weekend I was on the boat. As it was 6 degrees and raining I switched on the heating (Eberspächer D1LC).
The thermostat has a little wheel to set the temperature and a switch to activate the system.
Also, there are red and green indicator lights.
They both come up when I use the heater. The heater works fine.
What are the red and green lights for? Is the red light a fault indication?

According to the manual, on an OEM install both the red and green l.e.d. will illuminate, the MANUAL should tell you all you need to know.

Lots of useful information on this website.
We bought the boat second hand so I don't know whether or not it was OEM installed.
No documentation on the Eberspächer came with the boat, so I am grateful for your help!
