I believe all Ebers can be fitted with a "room" thermostat control (but I haven't actually checked). I suggest you take a look at the LeTonkinois website which will guide you as to where to find manuals, wiring details, etc. The thermostat is simply a thermistor although it has the reverse sensitivity to the more common ones, so can be difficult to source. At one time, the guys at LeTonkinois had a batch made, or you can buy the Eber part for a rather elevated price.
Also depends how old your heater is. On my 1985 Eber the thermostat (if you choose to fit one) is simply an on/off switch (like a domestic thermostat) .....the heater restarts/shuts down each cycle. Power consumption during each startup is so horrendous that it is better to leave running continuously. (I guess a hang-over from the heater's vehicle origins).
We have one of these hooked up to our D2. It has a thermometer thingymajig built-in so will run the heater at the required setting to reach and then maintain the desired temperature.
