eber D2, should i leave it on during the week ?

On Eberspacher figures, 1 week, ( 168 hrs ), at lowest setting will use 118 amp hours and 17 litres of diesel, ie over £17 worth. Your charging system just might supply the necessary, but will your wallet?

What fire precautions do other people use when running an eberbastardo on a timer on an unmanned bateau?
In terms of drying the boat out, heat needs ventillation to avoid simply moving the damp around. I guess it would be best to run the heater in the evening when the cooling air is most likely to cause condensation?

I have left my eber on all winter 1hour a day on max temp , have read on here that they dont like running at low temp , so far no probs /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We have a timer on our Ebber (D5). During the winter it comes on for 30 minutes at 7:00am and again at 18:00. As said before keep the heating power at MAX as they do not like being run on low power. IME this causes the heater to coke up and become unreliable.

In fact since we started this routine the Ebber has become more reliable than in pervious seasons where we just used when onboard. :0

When it is working it’s great and keeps the boat free of condensation. I have plenty of ventilation and 2 ‘green house’ storage heaters kept on during the winter.

I should add we use the boat most weekends all year round and I often stay onboard during the week as well.

I only leave it running with shore power attached as I think the Sun and Wind are to un-reliable unless someone is around to keep an eye on it.
