Ebberspatcher temperature control

The temperature control for my eber is hopeless.Its the cream one with a rocker switch and the rotary temperature control.Its almost impossible to set it at a temperature that is stable its either roasting or slows down to nothing the movement of the dial is so critical.Is there any control I could replace it with?

What model heater is it? that may help suggestions, mind you the one you have may be faulty and giving duff resistance values to the ECU as some are just simple variable resistors so a different variable resistor is unlikely to improve things if the current one is not faulty, the addition of an external temperature sensor or combined sensor / controller would likely to have a benificial effect if you don't already have one and your heater supports one.

The unit is from 1996 its a DL3.I had a look on the eberspacher site and they list what looks like more sophisticated controlers but they are for an Airtronic which I don't think mine is.I think my next step will be to give them a ring see if they can help. Anyway thanks for the reply.

mine is the same its a 2000 model with the same controler and they are rubbish total waste of time, i rang a dealer and gave them my model no and i can fit a digital 7 day timer version to mine so its on my to do list
