Ebay tiller pilot; is this an easy fix?

Looking at a cheap Autohelm on Ebay, item number 261844023167

Seller says:
"Nautech autohelm. (early Raymarine) Motor good, compass operation good. There is a fault in the easily accessible circuit board so that the arm responds to the compass in only one direction. An easy fix for any competent electrician."

I know it's pot luck, but can anyone give me any insights into just how much of an "easy fix" this may or may not be?
Any clues gratefully received.

Up to a point, Lord Copper! If so easy, why not fix? There are threads on here (literally threads...) as these have string inside them, like valve radio tuners. Could be fun, and you can always put it back on Ebay

I recently fixed an early plastimo autopilot for a forumite. If it's largely working it should be worth fixing.
