After several years of wanting to, I finally managed to land on Ailsa Craig on Saturday. (Party of 12 on chartered boat from Girvan.) Perfectly clear day and the view from the top was well worth the steep ascent: quite outstanding - a superb panorama: Ayrshire, Galloway, Ireland and Arran. While we were up the hill the boatmen caught mackerel and, on the way back via the bird cliffs, threw them in one by one. Watching from c. 10 feet away gannets diving in and swimming underwater to get them was really something. Great trip!
