Has anyone got an EasyReef mainsail reefing gear with the maxiroach mainsail? Im thinking about getting one for my 26ft boat.
Any feedback would be much appreciated....but not the pros and cons of mainsail reefing, thanks.

I just know that the maxiroach mainsail has the usual band of enthusiasts and despondents.
A pal of mine found it very difficult to stow in anything beyond calm conditions. The vertical battens kept getting stuck in the mast slot. His was a 48ft yacht so it may be better in smaller sizes.

I had exactly that and it was OK but I don't have anything to compare it to, what you could do with is someone who has experience of the different types of retro fit systems...

Friend of mine has a 30foot Catamaran, and he fitted a roller furling headsail foil and drum behind his mast, 20 years ago. He uses a Maxi Roach Main.
He did have a special mounting bracket made up to take the top and bottom fixing points. Said when he did it, had lots of comments, as you would expect? But has been sailing for 20 years with It, Cross Channel, Brittany, South West, lots of time shorthanded, works very well for him, and no jams.
Just another option?

I fitted the easy reef and maxi-roach to my 9m Catalac.

Reefing and using was OK once I got used to the quirks.

I did not like the cut of the maxiroach. Cut far too high at the leach and very little roach. Thus the overall size of the sail was much reduced from the original.

You will never get much roach with and in mast furler, un battened in mast furling sails have negative roach or a scallop out of them all the battens do is remove this negative roach for zero roach

Still think you would be better off with good SLR as mentioned

Had a Maxi Roach on last boat for 6 years. Original in mast was a retro fitted job which replaced with Seldon. Never had a jam (in or out) with either mast, quick and easy to reef, sail shape was great.

Had a behind the mast roller job and maxi roach sail. The sail is in the loft and the bits are in the garage if you are interested. I have gone to a normal main. It seemed quite hard work to get in and out and I had to use a winch, when I can hoist the main by hand and just need the winch to tension, albeit at the mast. The sail seemed good once you are 60 degrees of the wind.

Horses for courses, good luck.

Could you please private message me? I saw your advert on the westerly owners association, I think. You own a Conway??

I am interested in the reefing gear, but I think I would need a new sail.

Could you email me some more info, please?

I had an Easyreef retrofit system on my Ufo 31.
I did have a few problems with it at first, but it has now been laying in the mast rack at the yard for some years and I find that is the best place for it.
