easy fit cover and nuts for seawater pump

Hi,
years ago, as I remember, a UK company manufactured
a special cover with nuts to fit by hand for seawater pumps on engines.
Unfortunately I do no remember the companies name, who knows about.

I'm interested in why you think you need one. I guess you will be saving about 2 minutes service time per year in having this cover and I've never heard of an impellor failing at sea.

Hi,
I sail a catamaran. The engine rooms are rather cramped, and the acces to the seawater pump difficult. You can not see the bolts and you need to use special screwdrivers. The engines are mounted well aft and for that reason, in a following sea, the saildrives may come from time to time more or less over the sea level. It may happen that the cooling seawater is then drained (after several hours of use the water may then pass throug the pump due to the air intake valve in the exhaust system) sorry, my english...
So I think there is a valuable reason for an easy replacement of the impeller.

I suspect you are in a minority then, I've heard of several, and it's been mentioned more than a few times on the various forums here

You have now... or rather it would have been better if it had failed at sea. I'd have had time to fix it. My Yanmar impellor went in a narrow creek full of moorings! I had no choice but to run the boat aground and then beg a tow off a fisherman. Fitted speedseal and keep a couple of impellors on my boat now. course, that was 5 years ago and I've never had one go wrong since!
