Eastern Angles - \"Beyond The Breakers\"

Went to a wonderful Eastern Angles production tonight in Walsham-le-Willows about the lifeboats in Sheringham/North Norfolk.

I can heartily recommend this to all sailors, Classic and even AWB, though I won't put this information up over on ITV in case the AWB's book the tickets you want.

The tour is doing three performances in Woodbridge on 15/16 April (tel 01743 211498 for tickets (£7.50-£9.50), and going to lots of other Suffolk/Norfolk venues between now and 28 May.

See www.easternangles.co.uk

I feel I can "advertise" this as I am totally unconnected. Master and mate of the FF both thoroughly enjoyed it, and may even go again.

Hope to catch it locally, comes well recommended - old friends of ours Pat & Roger from Woodbridge composed the music for it too.

Er, yes, I have to admit to sailing an AWB by the way... a rewarding modern boat to sail, but Dufour are stretching credibility by referring to it hopefully as a 'Classic'!

Forgiven - according to your profile you haven't got time for a classic boat because you're doing up a classic house.

Some of my best friends sail AWB's - it doesn't stop me saying rude things about their boats on this forum that I wouldn't dare to say over on ITV. Like the 42ft Bendy Toy I crewed at Christmas which luffed up uncontrollably whenever there was a gust. I couldn't stop it even with full "opposite lock" on. Any more wind, and it would've self-tacked. I guess that's the price of a big back end with double bedrooms in it!

Then again, we did see 8+ knots in a 3/4 - in our boat that would only be possible down a long steep wave.

By the way - the music was really good in Beyond the Breakers - in the fact the more I think about the show, the more I realise I got from it. A very clever production indeed, with broad appeal, but particularly compelling for those of us who who use the sea. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Picked up a flyer for this whilst on a visit back to Blighty (Maldon) last week but unfortunately missed it. Looked a really interesting evening though. Would have been interested in seeing how a lifeboat rescue is re-inacted on stage!

Very cleverly done, with no water whatsoever!

Maldon - Newfoundland - you must have a very fast boat indeed. What's the weather like?

Very intriguing. Sorry to have missed it.

I am boatless at present but those Air Canada 767's are jolly fast though!

With somewhere in the region of 50cm snow followed immediately by upto 100mm of rain forecast for the next 24hrs, an ark would probably be more appropriate!

Suddenly I feel quite content about the Suffolk weather. Its been a bit damp for varnishing today, but mustn't grumble under the circumstances.
