Am I right?

As far as I can work out from the GFS 500 depth and Surface Pressure chart forecasts the Jetstream is likely to stay to the south of us in GB. The low pressure systems will keep south and there is a high pressure over Norway. As the lows come in there will be two occasions where the high ridge between them will be squeezed into an omega before isolating the tip. The tip will then join forces with the high over Norway and continue to bring the wind from northern Scandinavia. While the omegas are in place the wind will be brought across from the Balkan areas. At the same time there will be an East West split where the lows bring just a hint of warmer air up from the south west to the West Country.

Any Met experts out there please tell this Met Geek that I'm wrong!

Looks like it. Not unusual for this time of year. The worst thing is the warm air in the southwest makes perfect conditions for snow on you in Bristol and me in Poole if it pushes north and east and hits the easterly airstream. Look out for the news items on cars stuck getting up the hills on the A38 and A380 around Exeter Racecourse.

One of the many benefits of living here is not getting regular snow. It makes the odd occasion more exciting and enjoyable and as a bonus (in more normal times) the train from London doesn't make it past the New Forest.

Ah but we often fail to get it in Southampton. We have our own micro-climate ?
Met Office doesn't think we'll get snow in Southampton - no more than 20% chance of precipitation of any sort for the next week, and mostly 10% or less.

Mind you, that hasn't stopped a bit of snow blowing in the wind and sticking around where things trap it. Very much a lazy wind on this afternoon's walk - we were both glad to get in after half an hour. God help rough sleepers this weather!

Windfinder is suggesting light falls early hours of Friday for Poole. The current snow is moving from the east, whereas the Friday snow will be from the west if the jetstream squeezes the high pressure north east and lets the front in. Snow where one meets t'other, so Cornwall and Devon will cop it first.
