Easter Weekend

For years, Easter and spring have been glorious and the school holidays have been okay but mostly a washout.
Hopefully, this year has seen a reversal of that trend:)
Not long to go and people will be moaning about being too hot ;)

Not looking too good for the traditional start to the season on the Thames ???

Probably like many others on here our plans for some Easter boating was ended by the conditions.

After about 10 days of red boards at all locks / reaches, it is I hope encouraging to see 4 Yellows appearing today, at different ends of the river.
Possibly a chance for the weekend if it does not rain to much between now and then ...................

It will be glorious sunshine, hot temperatures and normal river conditions for the last week in July and the first week in August :D

I sincerely hope it is for you.

In the meantime our 4 yellow boards have turned into 3 reds and the only yellow is now at Letchlade to St Johns. It did rain a fair bit yesterday ?

Need to look at Gaugemap for those stations that monitor flow rates as well as river levels to get the true picture and likely future trends. For example Staines and Maidenhead:

Looking at the rate of decrease prior to 25th March (the last and only time I managed to get out of the marina) it will be another 7-10 days before flows are down to 75 cumecs or less, when red and yellow boards will likely disappear.

PS Even a flow of 75 was quite fast, did a trip to Shepperton Lock where a couple of NB’s were struggling a bit to reach the Wey, then down to Molesey lock and back to Shepperton Marina where the narrow entrance was quite challenging.

If it is any consolation the flood gates are being put on along the Trent again :)
