Well as most of you know, slight crisis at the beginning of the season with turbocharger having to be removed and refurbished, but thanks to Volvopaul all was re-installed last Thursday in time for Easter. Got down to Mercury first thing Friday morning and set off against the tide to Yarmouth...

a little nervous TBH throttling up... but immediate surge or power (which had been lacking now I come to think of it) and up to cruising speed..

a little relief all round (I'm a grumpy sod when things go wrong!)

got to Yarmouth and after lunch had a walk... non boaty, but interesting i thought.. past a hedge covered in these...

met my Mum & Dad who were also in Yarmouth, took them to our secret rope swing, funny enough only our daughter wanted a go..

Yarmouth started to fill up with some undesirable types... we stayed well clear! ;-)

now guess our daughter s name...

time spent chilling out, reading etc..

IMAGE_2252.jpg

got to have a Yarmouth sunset..

Monday morning started to empty out..

nearly time for us to go, got our "normal" berth next to our good friend's Lochin 33. He made me feel far better about the engine issues I had as his twin Sabre 300's had certainly been misbehaving... boats really can be a PITA, but when they work its the best hobby in the world.

heading out, Hardy's always leave in pairs..

IMAGE_2273.jpg

spotted this lovely classic Mobo.. tell us what it is Ben!

IMAGE_2274.jpg

with the tide, beautiful mirror calm water, suns out... boat working as it should, simply heaven.

IMAGE_2281.jpg

a bit of tide under us...

IMAGE_2276.jpg

all the classics were out to play..

IMAGE_2291.jpg

didn't even have to wash the boat off as so calm.. made SWMBO pleased anyhow, even got home in an hour, pretty odd for a bank holiday monday up the A3..

Looking forward to the next bank holiday weekend... hopefully a repeat of the above!

excuse quality of pics, all taken on my phone....

News from Yarmouth!

just while I think of it, couple of news worthy items from Yarmouth for anyone who has not made it this year..

Harvey's mini supermarket has been given a re-fit. (To afford it they have sacked all their staff so if you buy anything you have to queue for 10 minutes, but its a nicer place to queue than it used to be)

the final two pile moorings have been finally got rid of, (I bet that will save a few divorces) , but ye olde timers won't like it...

the Post Office has moved into Holdings next door

The old post office is having a re-fit and going to be a new coffee shop

New cafe counter within the Yarmouth Harbour offices, run by Nammet folk, do a good re-heated bacon bap (honestly, very tasty)

Oh, and the Police station is moving to the first floor of Yarmouth Harbour office...

Shame the last piles have gone, met many people on them.

The George is under new ownership and has a new chef, aiming for a Michelin star so expect good value until they get their star.

Also here that the Bugle has upped its game for food (Not a hard thing to do!)

Lovely pics.. Thanks! Having been to Yarmouth twice recently I would add that The Bugle still has a way to go in terms of food but the service was great. Don't forget to use the £5 off berthing voucher if you can. Breakfast fry up at the pier cafe was good too.

James, the wooden classic is a Souter 39 and is also owned by a customer of mine, I have worked on it .
It was re engined some years back, it originally had a pair of Perkins 6354 six cylinder engines in. It was re engined with a pair of 4 cylinder 170 hp versions of your engine, as the new motors were so light the boat sits a lot higher out the water and has a really good top speed for its hp as its so light. I'm not sure of the figures but it's very respectable.
Oh it was also build on the Isle of Wight, cowes I think.

Oh and thanks for the pick of whisper, undisireables eh!!

Excellent photos James, as usual, and SeaBird looks great.

No sign of the new radar reflector yet?

She runs at a good speed with the tide though, 25 knots is very respectable.

Thanks for the info Paul, looks a bit of a labour of love. I guess a load of ply lighter than grp..

Btw boat ran very well on the way home, thanks again for all your help.
saw you disappeared off as soon as a raggie dared to attach themselves to your lovely new boat, don't blame you!
