Anyone thought about what they are doing over Easter yet?

We'll be about from Thurs evening, to Mon morning, but not sure where we're heading yet... tempted to head to Orford, perhaps spend a night in the river at one of the ultra quiet Ore/Alde anchorages, or perhaps we'll go the other way and head down to the Blackwater...

I guess the weather is the big unknown with Easter being so early this year....

I will be thoroughly cleaning and power polishing Full Circle topsides and hull, teak cleaned, then antifouling.
Thats a couple of hours work, then home like Roger to eat chocolate eggs by the new as yet unconnected fire.

Probably.

I think I might have mentioned my plan before.

Launching this Sunday on the River Cam.

Assuming reasonable weather /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Leave Cambridge Friday morning.
Evening meal at the Jenyns Arms at Denver.
Lock out of Denver Sluice top of the tide Saturday morning and motor down to Kings Lynn.
Stop some how (Buoy or anchor) mast up.
Out into the wash, turn right after Hunstanton.
Follow the coast.
Stop at Lowestoft if necessary.
Arrive River Deben Sunday some time.
Beer - Sleep.

If weather is foul.
Put her back on the trailer Saturday after a play on the rivers.
Contemplate a long tow on the A14 /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

All the excitement of dahn teh Trent teh Farndon and back

tides are just right although with petrol prices I may just go...

with the flow /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Cheers Joe

Can't do anything Good Friday as I'm playing a gig. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Hope to be out over the weekend although, given the fact the world and his wife are normally out on bank holiday weekends, we might leave it.
Anyway, we've already has a trip this year cos we're not out of the water over the winter. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

If I were doing your trip, and had the time, I would definately stop at Lowestoft in the RNSYC moorings, on the left as you go in. Club is very welcoming to visitors as we always found when we came out of Boston going to the Deben.

One good reason is that you can come out of Lowestoft at low water and take the flood all the way down the coast and then up the Deben. We also used to scank around the sandbanks near Hunstanton, as the fishing boats do, which saves a good number of miles heading on the traditional route (going out near "Woolpack").

Have a good trip.

Good Friday hope to complete polishing topsides, refil water tank, put sails back on etc as plan to launch Flipper on Easter Saturday although boatyard has not yet confirmed they can get her out of the corner she is tucked away in!

Hope to have a little sail on Sunday to check it is all working and to try and remember what does what!!

On Rota next weekend, no sailing /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

On the plus side, just back from Levington. Limbo's engine serviced, sails on, anchor chain replaced, heads polished and a quick trip to Felixstowe as a test run. Little breeze and failrly misty, so no sailing, but good to be out anyway. Saw Guapa out and about as well /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thought I spotted you getting the sails on /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Motored to Landguard in search of a proper breeze - without much luck.
Drifted back up with the tide to Shotley Spit, then decided to call it a day.

Still, after 3 weeks stuck in her berth a stroll did the old girl some good.

Hoping to move back to our mooring over Easter - it's getting cramped/crowded inside /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Likely to be in the Orwell/Stour on Tosca III - have decided that the Deben and Ore are neap tides only from now on. Friday looks pretty inhospitable weatherwise, so either WFYC or one of the pubs in Kirby.

For the benefit of enthusuiasts, here is the latest I have (no liability accepted), based on a spot near the Pye End buoy. 0000 to 0000 in each case.

Fri: NW6 veering N6, rain then shwrs, vis gd, 986 falling to 983 at dawn then rising 996 by midnight.
Sat: N6 backing NW5 in the eve, occ shwrs, vis good or v good, 986 rising to 1007.
Sun: NW5 decr NW4 but poss SW4 for a time at first, shwrs, vis good but mod around dawn, 1007 falling slowly to 1002.
Mon: NW4-5, odd shwr, vis gd, 1002 rising to 1016.

Has all the hallmarks of an Olde Ship forecast! No doubt it will change and I won't comlain if the nasty stuff goes through early - the front is now shown as going through on Thursday night which is earlier than was being suggsted this time yesterday.

Pretty consistent NW5-6 at Titchmarsh today, but have had gusts of 40+ kts at times. Sunshine and showers. Cold does not even begin to describe it!

WFYC cut off on this mornings HW.
