Apologies to CX54 WEK for hijacking his title but it seemed nice to follow suit.

Herewith a few pictures we took between Newark and Dogdyke ((Trent, Fossdyke,Witham) during the Easter/wedding week. Great idea to have a long Bank Holiday, perhaps we could marry off a Royal a year and make it a regular thing ?
I Don't know if it's PC to post this on the Thames forum but as there isn't a Trent forum...... :p

At Southrey - disapointed to find that the pub had closed down on our side of the river and no room on the other side. When we moored there on the return the pub was closed Mon/Tues anyway so no beer again

The visitor moorings at Bardney Lock

A few shots of us moored in Lincoln wondering if we could fit through that short tunnel, locally known as the "Glory Hole" - actually we were fairly confident that we could as we were on our return leg :D Still... our tanks were all rather emptier than a few days earlier

And out the other side....

Lastly a night at Saxilby

Total 12 days, 30 hours cruising and less than 14 gallons of fuel used - nice ;)

If you are ever stuck for moorings, John on the red barge in your top photo at Southrey, is happy for people to raft alongside.

Hope you had a good time, this is our local stretch of water so we know it fairly well. Not all of the better places to visit are immediately obvious from the waterside but there are some real hidden gems especially on the Witham.

I agree with CX54WEK its a lovely bit of River and lovely and peaceful

The red barge was the old trip boat that has done the pool to the pyewipe so many times it could probably do it on its own :)
If you get to Lincoln again give me a shout for a mooring

Thanks JKay - We might well take you up on that offer, it seems a little crowded at Lincoln. :)

Best bet for a mooring in Lincoln is to sling your hook in the area adjacent the island and dinghy over to the shops/bars. Much easier than trying to fight for a mooring space on the BW visitor moorings.
