Hi all

I'm thinking of taking some friends out for a quick sail tomorrow, drop the hook for lunch and a swim.

Does anyone know what East Wear Bay, just to the NE of Folkstone, is like for holding?

Thanks

Not much water NE of Folkestone! I think you mean SE.
We used to anchor there when I was a youngster. Beware that the rocks extend out a fair distance so you need to be beyond them for decent holding and the tidal range is significant.

Within a couple of hours sailing there are two very good anchorages. to teh East of Dungeness, very good holding but up to 9 metre tidal range. And off Deal. I always anchor just of the Cinque Ports Golf Club. Nice quiet night and excellent holding. Both are shown on teh charts as anchorages.

Thanks, what I am considering is a convenient lunch stop a couple of hours from Dover.
