Hi all I've got a UFO 31 fin keeler with a 1.6mtr draft. It's currently at Eastbourne and is now due for it lift, powerwash and antifoul. Sovereign Marina have quoted me £311 which seems a lot.
I looked into drying piles at Newhaven which are cheap, but I'm not sure if I've got the bottle having never done it before.
Someone told me about a cradle thingie at Rye, anyone got any other suggestions or experience/prices?. Cheers Ming

Might be worth trying Sussex Yacht Club as Shoreham. There are both lift-out and slipway facilities at Shoreham which are available to non-members I believe.

Get in touch with Andy at Rock Channel Marine at RYE . Lift out on cradle around £ 170 last year, if memory serves.

Your options are limited round here (I'm in Eastbourne too) - there are a couple of yards with cranes/hoists on Denton Island in Newhaven that might be an option (remembering the tidal issues getting there and the swing bridge). There is always the slip at Newhaven Marina (opposite SImpsons) perhaps the operators of that can get you out for a scrub more economically than at Eastbourne. As for the piles, I haven't seen them to know what condition they're in, would be a good use of time going down there at low tide to see for yourself before trying them.

Jeff.
