Having been unable to locate the time (or remortgage) to visit the Solent, I am having to shorten my sailing plans and traverse the old-stomping ground of the East Coast. I'll be leaving London on the 16th, and returning (probably sans Crystal) the following Monday.

Are any of you East Coasters thinking of sailing at any point during this 6-day period? Or perhaps just fancy a pint? I should very much like some boating company. There is also a rumour that the Contributing Editor might make an appearance if I can factor in a visit to Kent en-route...

You shouldn't feel too dismayed at having to sail around the Thames estuary; you'll be sailing in the wake of H. Alker Tripp, Maurice Griffiths, Arthur Ransome and a whole fleet of other sailors who found it challenge enough for one lifetime.
Peter.

Re: East Coast/Thames Estuary

You're absolutely right, Peter, I had just set my sights a little further, that's all. I love the East Coast, although it must be said that the actual Estuary itself is now losing it's charm after the number of times I've sailed Sea Reach (yawn). Once into the open sea, I couldn't be happier. That is, of course, the price one pays for keeping a boat in Central London.

It will just be nice to be sailing again!
