Can anyone recommend an East Coast based surveyor? Boat is a 23ft Seamaster currently being re-engined and Euromarine have just confirmed they want a full condition survey (as opposed to a yard report) prior to re-launch as she is 30 years old. A slight PITA given she's built like a brick proverbial.
Last time (when purchasing in '97)I used David Cannell (Wivenhoe) and designer of the Samphires but a full blown naval architect seems slightly OTT in these circumstances.
Given the work I'm having done with the re-engine I'm not exactly flush with spondoolics so cost is a factor too.
Thanks all. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I use Polestar who only need a yard survey and last year were happy with a set of decent photos. Might be worth looking at changing your insurance company

Peter Davies in Colchester is very good (01206 823289).
Also Dominic Buckley (02603 717823 / 07981 247107): did my father's Fairline last year. Saw him a couple of months ago working on a Seamaster, so he probably knows his way around them.
If you're in Essex, Phil White (07768 080771) could be worth a call.

Keith Millet Based in Maldon 01621 859181.
Excellent service and a very helpfull gentleman. Had one survey and he found a drastic problem with it, (ie keel nearly falling off!!) He called me to tell me over the fone and as I didnt want the written survey, he knocked £90 off the price.

He was also the cheapset I found and I called upawards of 12 surveyors around the east coast..

Also used Dominic Buckley, does a good job and will go over his findings with you on the boat after his survey which is very helpfull.
Had a 30 page survey report on my Colvic.
