East Coast Surveyor

Does anybody have any recommendations for an East Coast Surveyor. I am looking for someone to survey a 10 year old 34 Moody on the Orwell in the next 2 weeks. Equally does anyone have any concerns as to whom I shouldn't approach in the area?

Last year I used Peter Davies of Peter N. Davies Surveys, 98 The Avenue, Wivenhoe, Essex, CO7 9PP. Telephone: 01 206 823 289 - telefax: 01 206 826 969.

He is well known for being thorugh and will, if required, check any work being undertaken by a boatyard on an on-going basis. His rates are reasonable too, which is plus point.

I have also just had a survey done by Peter Davies and (though I am no expert in these things) he appears to have done a thorough job and I'd be happy to recommend him

He has also been helpful in suggesting how to go about putting right the defects that he identified.

Whoever you choose, don't be afraid to ask for written proof of their professional indemnity policy. A client of mine some years ago found his (East Coast) surveyor was uninsured - luckily the damage wasn't enormous but it was bad enough.
