Has anyone got any suggestions of where we could charter a bilge keeler (up to 10m) on the east coast? We would like to explore somewhere like the Orwell, Deben. Would the weather be suitable in April or October?
Appreciate your comments.

Don't be too hung up on the bilge keel thing. Many of us explore the East Coast including the rivers you mention in fin keelers.

If you really want to experience the drying out thing... maybe charter a Southerly (lifting keel).

The East Coast without bilge keels

I for one feel that you would be missing half the exerience of the east coast if you travel in a boat that can't take the ground

the east coast for me is all about drying harbours, saltings, mud and sand. I am not saying its impossible but its really limiting.
