We bought our Oyster 406 (40'6" LOA and 2m draft) from the Oyster brokerage in Foxs Marina in early 2012 and spent 4 months there, mostly ashore, before sailing round to our berth in the Solent. By a quirk of fate it looks like we will be moving back to Bedfordshire later this year and therefore it makes sense to move our yacht back to the East Coast for a couple of years. We enjoyed our time in Foxs, and, availability permitting we may well end up going back there, but I would be grateful for any views on nearby Marinas or moorings - cost/availability/facilities etc.

Thanks

Neil

I am happy at Woolverstone Marina. Great sunsets and views being directly on the river and new pontoons. Cost me £4,480 for a similar lengthed Jeanneau 409. It could do with a bit more atmosphere in the bar/restaurant but a short walk along the river to the Butt and Oyster pub at Pin Mill is very pleasant.

Shotley is ideally placed, and is very secure. Bit of a boring drive to get there, but quicker than the time taken to sail down the river from other marinas.

If you want to get to the boat quickly then Fox's, if you want to get out of the Orwell and out to sea quickly then Shotley (lock permitting). Woolverstone much the nicest location but big tidal currents, Levington the largest and best equipped but takes me 15 minutes drive from Fox's and fiddly to get in and out of a number of the berths. Something there for everyone.
