I've just read the latest story about the Earthrace circumnavigation on YBW.com, here. They couldn't find any bio-diesel in the middle of the Pacific - not a huge suprise, I feel - so have had to fill up with ordinary diesel.
This has to be the most pointless record attempt ever; they are way off the pace, their props have disintegrated and they've killed someone: an accident, maybe, but he's no less dead. And now, the whole raison d'etre of the attempt is in tatters.
I haven't seen any photos, so it's impossible to tell whether or not the skipper has an albatross hanging round his neck but surely it's time to put this one to bed and go back to the drawing board?
