DIsabled with a broken hip and rereading my old sailing books again. Currently on Ernle Bradford's Journeying Moon. His writing is every bit as good as his drinking must have been.

His wife Janet was a gifted sailor, but seems to have disappeared from his life. I find Sam Llewellyn claims to have met her, but also that she died in 1948 at age 23.

Any facts out there? Her maiden name was Rushbury.

Tillman fans may be interested to know that he bought Mischief from Ernie Bradford. Bradford himself was a sailor and writer of note and wrote many books. His book “Ulysses Found” is a particularly interesting read.

Sam Llewellyn here. I knew her as Janet Vera-Sanso. She died, I think, last year or the year before. See her articles in the Marine Quarterly, in which you will get the facts straight from the fountainhead.
