Can anyone please tell me what diameter the halyard should be on the very early Rotostays? This is models D,E and F which don't have a slider, instead the wire halyard leads up from the head of the sail, via a sheave in the swivel, and back down the other side where it is belayed onto an eye on top of the drum.

Dont know the size but I use the thinest flexible possible, as used on dinghy rigging, about 1/8" dia feels soft to the touch.

Thanks for that. Reason I asked is that I had the Rotostay off to overhaul it and I seem to have carelessly mislaid the halyard! If I don't find it soon I'll have to have a replacement made.

My version used a wire halyard that was just about 18" shorter than the distance from top of the genoa over the swivel and back down to above the eyelet on the furling drum. wire size about 2 to 3mm diameter. The wire had hard eye swaged ends. I also had a rope with a shackle to use when removing the sails. attached to the wire provided sufficient distance for the genoa to be taken off the foil before the other end of the wire touched the top swivel.

Thanks for that. Fortunately I found the thing [I had put it in a "safe place"! ] But, on examining it, I see it's time I got a new one as it's just beginning to fray.
