I am currently taking my day skipper course on the river Humber. I still have the theory to pass in the winter. I am a bit old (57) but still reasonably fit. What are the chances of me finding crewing work in the med (go anywhere and anywhen)
I have sailed a dinghy for years but now I'm moving into the big boats. Any comments welcome.

Cannot comment about the "Med " or "work".. but would say , there are plenty of berths available for offshore crew.. but no pay, you in turn pay your way in terms of contributing to the ships expenses.. Your age is no problem in my book.. ( I am older) .. plenty of skippers want mature ., reliable crew... go for it .

Old ! I Hope not I am not far behind you! I started sailing at 45 never did it before, spent more time under water, diving. I did all my practical on the Humber! I know people knock the brown muddy water but I loved every minute of it, sailed with David King Yachting out of Hull Marina. We have just sold our house and I am planning buying a yacht from USA and sailing it back to blighty and then onto Europe and then down to Cyprus.

Just go for it My best and only friend and I were planning all sorts just this time last year, he died shortly after of cancer. One life! you’re a long time dead!
