Does anybody know the wherabouts of any of the small gaff rigged boats designed by Maurice Griffiths, built by Harry King at Pin Mill, in about 1931 -33, to MG's "Olive Mary" design? Various LLoyds Register seems to list four such boats, "Olive Mary", "Wendy May", "Singapore", & "Silver Seal". A photograph of a 5th one, "Silver Fox" appears in John Leather's book The Sailors Coast, page 89, taken by Douglas Went in 1945. "Silver Seal" is in Classic Boat 2, Spring 1987, page 30. Here's a link to one (poorly scanned by me photo)
http://www.eventides.org.uk/kylixpic.htm The boats were 25' 6" LOA, 23' LWL, 8' 6" beam, 4' 6" draft. The four registered boats were also listed in the OGA Register published in 1993.

Yes, the product of another day off wasted, should have been painting the boat, but the joy of looking at 1920's & 30's YM's was just too much to resist.

I have yet to contact the Gaffers Log editor, but I noticed although Wendy May has very similar dimensions to the Harry King boats, it was actually built by Williams & Parkinson, a new name to me, in Deganwy, N Wales, in 1936. Been through lots of Gaffers Logs trying to find a photo, in vain, of Wendy May, to see if the same design of boat.

Tomorrow, I am resolved not to go in my loft, but do something useful on the boat!

I purchased "Olive Mary" in 1993, took her to Cornwall for 9 years before returning home to North Wales in 2002. "Olive Mary" now swings happily on her mooring on the Conwy river. I have a lot more information concerning "Olive Mary" if you are interested.
