Argos have a Bush 15" Flat Screen multi-standard PAL/SECAM nicam teletext TV that will run on 12v or 220v for £379.99.

Just found out that we could use our Nectar points transferred from Barclaycard at Argos and there's me thinking I wouldn't bother.......

Came back with the Bush 15" flat screen TV for the boat, a nicam VCR for the bedroom TV and still have loads of points left! Just tried the TV on the boat and it is very good indeed, the 12v connection is a simple phono type female plug (not supplied) which I already had on the old B&W TV. As far as I can tell from the ammeter it takes just 2A maybe a tad more, whether on 12v direct or via the inverter, although the spec said 12v 48w.

Sainsburys also have a 15" 'Lodus' multistandard TV for just £299, or it is also available on nectar points, but it is a larger footprint and needs more stowage space.

Sorry Robin, I am having a little difficulty with this concept.

I think you are saying that you have a telly on the boat. Presumably you actually watch it sometime, too.

Surely the boat is one place to 'get away from it all' with a decent book, drink and woman to keep you entertained?

Afraid so. Yes I agree about the good book and a drink - a bad woman might be nice too.... It's this time of year it comes into it's own, dark early, hatches closed. heating on.

We had a very small (8" dia) B&W set which really only came out early & late season and would not work in France. This one is somewhat up market and will work in France so if we want we can see a French weather map, back home we can do that and get forecast info on teletext too.

As a bonus my golf mad SWMBO can now watch the British Open, Masters, World Matchplay etc covered by BBC and not complain she is missing it whilst we are on the boat.
