Earls Court Boat Show

I blagged a free pass for Friday Preview ; an hour was enough to see everything on the ground floor ; don't miss Peyton's cartoons on the balcony !! Its still better than the out-of-town mausoleum called Excel though - and, an eternal optimist, I'll go again next year in the expectation it will be better.

It has been desperately badly attended so far, but latest reports seem to indicate the traffic is picking up a little. It would take me a lot longer than an hour to get around! I spent nearly an hour comparing the two 8-Ms and talking to the boatbuilder of one of them... I've not met anyone so far who doesn't like the show, badly attended or not.

Went today. Very little of interest for me; the exhibition of boats which have rowed the altlantic was fascinating though.

Almost empty of people compared to Excel BS on similar weekday.

I wanted to look at Autohelms (never had one before), Garmin handheld GPS's, Gill three layer systems. Could have bought some Gill jackets at reasonable prices, otherwise zilch. Walked round twice in about hour and a half.

Unfortunately felt I'd wasted £16 & a half day's leave.
