My boat has an Eagle Super ID fishfinder fitted and I've been using it as a depth sounder... last time I switched it on however, it seems to have lost the ability to find the bottom! All is set to auto, but in around 5m of water it zooms to 20m and shows a blank screen apart from a few spurious dots here and there.
I've not damaged any wires that I'm aware of. Nothing's unplugged etc etc.
Boat has sat itself down on a muddy bottom a couple of times though, so was wondering if I have a lump of mud stuck on the transducer - but I have sailed and motored a fair bit - so would have thought it would have cleaned off.
Do you think this old sounder has simply died on me? Or have I got some mud stuck on my bottom?
