Do you think there should be some correlation between the EA's stated targets for depth of water in the fairway and the depth alongside their 24 hour moorings? For instance, if a 24 hour mooring location is in the stretch where minimum fairway depth is targeted as 4'6" should we expect the depth at moorings to accommodate boats with that draft?

We have little or no information about depths at moorings other than our own reported local knowledge. I do know that there are several EA 24 Hour locations where I cannot get alongside and there is no indication of depth on notices etc.

Also, should we expect navigation marks to give us at least a good indication of where the deepest water lies in the fairway where the targeted depth is critical?

Yes!

Absolutely agree - It cost me a new prop last time I tried to get alongside at Maidenhead, and I've had to abort at several other so called 'moorings' due to lack of water.
Some alongside depth indication would be a great help - or perhaps we don't pay enough to provide this ???

Of course there should be a correlation and it should be 1:1.
The EA mooring should be the same depth as the quoted fairway depth, it is a nonsense to be otherwise. It's a while since I had a go at them about it so get your battering rams out please.

Is the quoted fairway depth the actual depth or the draft of a boat that can use the fairway? not the same thing by a long way........

Cuckoo land

You're all dreaming!!
Where are EA going to get the funding and/or manpower to carry out dredging?
We have been batting on about it for years and no one at EA has taken any notice.

After all, it is far more important that walkers can safely walk the entire length of the river and that disabled access is available at every single miniscule EA site and that canoes can use rollers at locks to avoid using the lock (paying for a licence).

You really know how to press my buttons!!!!!!!!

Yes, yes, yes......I know.... but sometimes its good to dream - or at least carry on believing that things CAN be changed.

Anyway, its not your buttons I'm trying to press so don't discourage me :D
