..or at least that was my first reaction when I saw them just now.
Then I realised what he was doing: 100yds or so at full speed, tons of wash, then slammed on the brakes and watched the wash gush forwards, under the ice ahead and a fabulous effect as the wave carried forward under the 2cm thick ice into the cut of Sonning Lock.....breaking it all up and an amazing zinnnging pinnnging sound as the ice shattered and echoed from the banks/sides.
I'd LOVE to give that a go
