The FAQ says I can email any member of the forum by clicking the email button on any post they have made. There is even a picture of the email button to prove it. But I can't see that button on any actual posts.

From FAQ :-

"Why can't I send an email to someone?

If you cannot find an email button or link for a member, it means either that the administrator has disabled email functions for this forum, or that the member has said that they do not wish to receive email from other members."

The facility is not enabled and AFAIK never has been.

If you want to contact other members you can use the PM system although individuals may opt not to use the PM system

It is possible to add the email button to a post

I take then that the email button in Vic S's reply is just there to tease me!

I can see how to send a pm but not how to find the replies I might get. The FAQ says I have an in box but does not say where it is. Maybe everybody over a certain age should be eliminated!

Yes just a tease ... but it would be possible to make it work ... I think

If you have the facility activated you will get a pop up message telling you of new PMs.

You can also opt to recieve email notification of new PMs

You can see your "in box" by clicking on " Private messages" in the welcome box top right. It tells you if there are any unread ones
