E Borders ? I won\'t be complying !!

How do you know when Petrolia is at work ? When he posts on this forum. No time when not at work !!

Back to e borders. Only just read Nov MBM online.
This makes me SOO mad. I just won't do it.
Is it going to be pan european ? If not it surely can't work.

When I leave the Sovereign marina knowbody knows where I'm going. Could be going to Brighton. Could be going across the channel, Might just be going fishing 2 miles out.

So unless the officials accross the channel co-operate and ask to see some kind of proof that I notified e borders of my plans it won't work.

Is someone in France going to check my passengers before I leave. Is someone in UK going to check when I arrive ?
Or are they going to try and track ALL vessels on radar and match them to eborder passage notifications ? To do this surely AIS would have to become compulsory !

Another load of complete cobblers from a government out of control. I won't make anyone more secure. Just a load of hassle for us and cost to the taxpayer. Or are they going to make it 'self-funding' !!!!!

Most trips I've made across the pond have been last minute - howz that gonna work then with UK Gov looking for 48hrs notice etc. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I normally give the North Wales mob 48 hrs notice then don't show up.

Then I pop across as a last minute thing.

lets all put in travel plans every weekend and every day in the summer even if we dont go. We can always blame the weather. Maybe they will get fed up with so many plans especially if they are mostly not carried out. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That would be breaking the law. Posting an plan every week and then not going is not breaking the law, it is merely a change of plan.

yes but they will probably arrest one to set an example. The penalty will probably be severe, bound to be the anti terrorism laws as they use them for everything these days, then we will all give in.

Agree. That's what I would do. Ignore them !

Increasingly our national and local governments seem to have forgotten that they are supposed to be working for us !!

They really do think they are our rulers !! Are we now slaves ? IMHO we are rapidly becoming so !

What if I take down my radar reflector ? Then I'll sand off all the sharp edges. Can I buy a cloaking device ? Then I'll sneak accross unseen.

Didn't realise how prophetic my signature was when I thought of it. With time the more relevant it becomes.

Hence my suggestion that every Wednesday, every boater in the land sends a trip notification, and if you don't go, then no law has been broken, but the system will fail due to the overload and the fact that the information they get is next to useless.

It's civil disobedience, but legal civil disobedience.

Panic!!!!

Having read through the e_borders development work so far, no proposals of any kind have been made to handle leisure boaters. They do not even intend to speak to anyone about leisure boating for 2 years.

We simply do not have the stamina to keep this level of hysteria up for another 2 years!

Furthermore, something like e_Borders is necessary. It was necessary 20 years ago, but cost cutting and invasions of other people countries have resulted in the abandonment of the normal border control methods all other countries use.

This is not the Poll Tax - I cannot see yachties rioting in the street and non-yachties are not going to support our case - they see us all as privileged snobs. Instead of wingeing that we poor boaters are being hard done by, we need to ensure that whatever regulations are implemented (And they will be), they are workable. As Frontier implies, they only have to make examples of 2 or 3 people to make the rest of us get back in our boxes.

I've not really read up on this yet but it seems to me that the authorities will always find a way of getting us to tow the line.

Think about it.

Are the insurance companies going to be happy if you flaunt the law.
I bet you wont risk it if you thought you might not be covered - or at least have a problem making a claim.
So how would you feel crossing the channel under these circumstances.
Squeeky clean is the only way to handle insurance IMO.

So it seems to me that Frontier's reaction is the way forward - flood them with paperwork - in fact if they introduce an electronic method of registering - make up some king of script that does th registration every day or so.
