E Boat rig tension

I use a screwdriver to get a nice tune from the rigging on my E-Boat, and leave it at that. I got the tension checked with a proper gauge this season after I did it my normal way, and it was bang on for the wire thickness!!!
My deck, where the two attachment hoops are for the shrouds bends up a wee bit, and the bulkhead bends too where the bars attach down below, but its always been just fine. I dunno if Jock is at the Bosuns Locker any more, but he can be contacted through them still.

Have a look here: http://www.saltyjohn.co.uk/resources/Rig tensioning using the Loos.pdf Although using a Loos standard gauge I never applied more than 90kg tension to Egret's shrouds. Just enough to start making the bulkhead a little 'curvy'. Assuming that you use 4mm 1x19 wire.

And I tried getting an E-Boat specific stern gudgeon via Jock a couple of years ago; Jock had retired and the supplier (That the Bosun's locker manager kindly referred me to) didn't really want to make me one as they hadn't made one in a few years, even though they still had the tools: Oh, British Industry, where did it go so wrong :-(

And having just seen Even Chance's comment thought I'd mention that I had to renew the 'U' bolts through the deck as they went a funny, stretched, shape. They were still the same HA part number though...

Thanks to everyone for the top tips...

we tweeked the boat and just had the news that we won our class at Aberaeron Regatta.

3 races yesterday in light wind, we focused on keeping it moving and staying out of the worst of the tide. Today, one race in 15 to 20 mph wind, backstay went boom but quick fix and keeping it safe worked.

Ta.
