Anyone with experience of ASAP Supplies ?

Went to lage chandlery today and asked for 4x 1" valves to replace intakes for generator, toilets etc. Not at all pleased to see CW617N stamped on them... so asked for DZR but got response "this is what we stock" ... so declined and walked away...

Happy to use those on fresh water system etc., but not for sea intake... so now looking for alternative provider, hence posting here..

replaced all mine with DZR with stainless handles from ASAP . Very helpfull on the phone and all delivered when promised . No connection etc etc .

don't know them other than a few forumites highly recommending them.
Alf I went through that down here when trying to find seacocks and that's why I'm moving to Marelon. Have you considered this option? At the very least you get what you pay for, plus it' unlikely it's going to lock solid or cause other problems. Ah, and it's cheaper as well.

cheers

V.

I believe the 40 and 60 relate to size.

I have not seen a valve with a red handle yet that is bronze or DZR.

There are also valves with red handles that are a shiny metal colour and look like cast stainless steel, they are nor they are nickle coated brass.

Don't think the colour or style of the handle has anything to do with the material of the body. If you look at the ASAP site you will find Bronze have red handles, DZR mostly green, Stainless blue, plated brass red!

The valves actually supplied may of course have different coloured handles. If buying the only way to be sure is to buy from a supplier who clearly warrants the material spec. Think you will find that ASAP, Aquafax, Vetus and other wholesalers are now very particular about describing their products correctly following all the recent publicity. May not, however be the same at retail level, although retail catalogues such as Force 4 do correctly describe products, perhaps because they lift the descriptions direct from the wholesaler specs.

Well I have larnt something new today!

The asap Bronze Valve with a red handle is the first One I have seen and I have seen hundreds of Brass ones with a red handle.

Another vote for ASAP
Used them several times
very quick
very knowledgeable
keep sending email flyers with useful info on latest proven equipment such as improved flexible couplings etc etc BUT only after they are proven, they are not peddling carp.

+1

Used them a few times - genuine good team in there who do know what they are selling - unlike many others.

Just received 5x 1" CR valves from ASAP ... very nice and rapid delivery ... Also stamped CN 25 on other side, so suspect this relates to diameter as in metcics .... 1" = 25mm

you have a 1" internal diameter tube with a Cap Nut 25mm metric thread

Doubt the threads will be metric - they are normally BSP.

Accepted its BSP, I shouldn't have mentioned metric.

But remember a pipe is much thicker.
A hull fitting is already threaded down.

1 1/2 inch fitting (Cap Nut 40) is meant for a pipe DN40 .
