Never had one go like that, but in the early 1990s once had a Cummins NTE 14 ltr at full chat in the test cell, it broke the propshaft UJ spider on the dyno end of the shaft, ripped out of its mountings and went dancing round the test cell shedding pipework and wiring as it went.

That was scary and din half make me jump.

By the time the steam had cleared and the tinkling sounds had finished I had managed to calm down a bit.


These days I don't have a test cell to run em up in, I never actually see them run
