Dyneema

How do you wash Dyneema halyards?thanks

In the washing machine, carefully rolled, @ 40C, synthetics, non-bio detergent, then hang them under cover (in UK climate).
My one spinnaker halyard, fitted in 1995 is a testament to this handling. Now all halyards and 50% of sheets are in UHMwPE or HMPE.
Some maintain that Vektran ropes are superior, slightly higher loads, knots better, is easier to handle and no creep, but less UV resistance.
Sails in Vektran, in my experience, far superior to straight PE, probably even that strengthened with HMPE (hydranet).

I would think that dipped into a bucket of fresh water with a little detergent would wash out salt and grime. If that doesn't satisfy you then try the washing machine. olewill
