Hi,

can anyone advise if there is any online site/s showing diagrams of how to splice Dyneema?

Regards,

Duke.

Hi,

thanks for link but when selected I get " cannot proceed - this page has been called
with an invalid parameter ---" etc.

Could you give me the web address?

Thanks,

Duke.

Thanks to Oldsaltoz and Cliff for the recommended site.

The rope sample shown is much different to what I have.

My rope is 12mm and has a central core made up of many longitudinal strands and
an outer braided sheath. (The central core can easily be pulled through the outer
sheath).
Maybe my rope not Dyneema rope at all?

I have tried googling "Dyneema splicing" but not a lot out there.

O.K., try here - much better site and splicing instructions for different construction of rope. Check on the "recreational marine" section (left side) and you will find a page giving the different layups of rope.

have fun

BTW, Dyneema is as easy to splice as other fibre ropes - it is the lay-up of the rope that causes the problems so you really need to know the construction of your rope.

I've spliced a few Dyneema ropes (halyards) this year and used instructions from both Samson ropes and Liros. Downloadable pdf's can be found on their websites. They have instructions for both 12 strand Dyneema only rope, as well as braided cover ropes. Prepare to spend some time over it the first few times you do it....

Hi,
thanks to all who replied.
From the various sites etc mentioned I succeeded in splicing my rope - confirm it was Dyneema.
To those who might be interested it appears Dyneema construction is similar to Braid on Braid
but has an extra intermediate (thin) braid between outer cover and inner core.

Duke.
