Hi all,
I want to change the colour of my canvas flybridge and window covers. Tried the usual in the washing machine dye but this only left a slight tinge.
Does anyone know where I can get a more suitable dye for the job and its name please.
Cheers all
Sid

Repainted our vinyl canopy on old boat to tidy it up for a season.
Was a latex based paint[not specialist chandlery purchase]just a good paint manufacturer.Still able to fold canopy up afterwards without paint cracking and remained waterproof.Quite difficult to apply and not good coverage so ended up costing about £50 to do average size canopy.
I would think your covers have not taken dye too well because are designed to be waterproof therefore dye will not penetrate fabric too well.

There is some paint stuff, used for motor cars and a paint on dye, used to freshen up and protect canvas soft tops on cars, XK engineering, (jaguar people) in coventry, they may know the name of the stuff. Or theres always the net!

Don't worry about it Syd, iy was used in the army for webbing belts, packs etc, to make them look "Smart" non waterproof and bloody awful stuff! No good whatsoever for anything useful! Sp[ecially designed to give squaddies more to do as well as "Bulling " boots! Don't ask!!!!!
