Hi all

Been to the boat to-day started the engine and the smoke filled the cabin . the cast iron exhaust down pipe has split / corroded . Anyone experienced this ?? Guess new from Buhk is expensive . Is there an alternativer ?? anyone made one up from screwed unions ??

Cheers

Re: DV 27 Exhaust

I don't know about the DV27 but my when I bough my boat, her BUKH DV10 had an exhaust bend made up from standard malleable iron pipe fittings. the sort you can buy from BSS Ltd.

Re: DV 27 Exhaust

sorry twister error on my part should have read DV24 . good point about BSS bits thanks

The same thing happened on our DV20, although I found it before it broke into pieces. It did fall apart as soon as I took the exhaust hose off the outlet!!!

I bought a new bend from Bukh, but some have had them made up in stainless steel and others as per the previous reply from engineering/plumbing bends.

Had the same problem years ago and made one from BSS pipe fittings. It lasted two years so the next move was to get one fabricated in SS. When I went to collect it I asked the fabricator how long he reconed it would last. Longer than the engine was his reply. When I re-engined with another Bukh (reconditioned) I put it on it and its still going strong.

New one close to £100 so visit to nearest fabricator me thinks !! Thanks for all your replies and guidance

cheers
