I have been using a 3 mobile 3G pay as you go modem for internet access on the boat for the last few weeks and found it so good I have actually scrapped by BT broadband line at home, (which has always been rubbish).
Going to be spending a couple of months in Holland soon and would like to get a SIM card there that would work on the same pay as you go basis in the 3 modem. Anyone know what network offers this kind of sevice, and whether I could just buy a SIM in a network shop and shove it in the slot?
Thanks Paul

they are available but on a year subscription, not pay as you go, asfar as I know. open wi fi networks about, and for limited sufing kpn do a similar thing to cloud here. I often go to a cafe that offers free wi fi. I believe telfort shops offer free wifi in the locality, though have not used them personally.

I was wondering the same thing about Ireland. I think the 3 modem is probably locked to their service. I'm very impressed by how well this thing works in the depth of West Wales where we can't even get a TV signal! I'm convinced there's a black hole nearby that is absorbing all EM radiation in the area /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

[/ QUOTE ]Yes, it will be. I think their modem is a HUAWEI E220. It's probably possible to unlock these things; it takes a lot of googling, though.

having looked at the gsm site mentioned, I have bought a vodafone.nl prepaid sim and for 9 euro something get 30 days web use. working real fine at mo near port zeeland.
