I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but with all the different people that come here I bet someone will know.
A few years ago a friend of mine who owned a Dutch barge said that there was a custom in Holland that the top of the masts were painted a different colour depending on if the owner owned the boat outright with no debt or not. Does anyone know if this is true and if so what colours meant what.
