Hi All,

I've never been to the 'boot' but with London cancelled I need to get my winter boat fix elsewhere.

Not in the market for a new boat (famous last words) - just like to have a look round at both the boats and chandlers.

So is Dusseldorf worth the trip for a 'chaps' weekend away?

Assuming it is, I'm sure plenty of forum members have been before so can anyone recommend a nearby hotel - probably more of the budget end of the scale?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/advice.

Cheers,

Joe

Place is amazing. 23 halls most the size of the London show!

Booking.com is your friend, but bear in mind even the airport hotels seem to need cabs to get to them and I have never seen taxi meters go round so fast .... wonder why they banned uber!

Hotel Melia Dusseldorf May well meet your needs. We paid around €65 per night. It is well situated. The tram stops nearby. Transport by tram to the show is inclusive if you purchase your boat show ticket ahead of the event. The infamous “Altstadt” is close to the hotel............the boys will enjoy a night out in that part of town!!.

Many thanks for your replies - we really must go!

Jimmy - I think we are looking to go for a couple of days at the weekend but if this changes to a day visit I'll PM you to find out the details as it would be good to meet up with other forum members.

I've had a quick look at Booking.com at our preferred weekend dates and the Hotel Melia is £186 for a night so may look further afield as there are 3 of us (so two rooms).

Happy to take on any more suggestions :encouragement:

Thanks again

Joe

Have you ever slept in a tent :)
Yup. I went on a camping holiday in France with some mates back in the '70s and my tent blew away in a gale. I took that as a sign from Him Upstairs that me and tents weren't made for each other and I havent slept in one since. Are you suggesting that we camp outside the Dusseldorf show?
