After reading Gavies post on here i thought i would nip down to Sunbury and take the boat out to have a look at these special little boats .
I spent the night on board Saturday and then on Sunday decided i probably had the wrong lens on the camera so nipped home and got the other camera and wide lens .
I'll post up pics from both but there are lots of them so i'll do one camera at a time .It may take a while to get all of them on here .
I hope you enjoy :)

Great pics!

I met the couple with l'Orage coming through Sonning Lock back in May. Such a beautifully preserved boat, and some great brass plaques celebrating her past....

I'm sorry I coulnd't get pver there to see them all!

Excellent photos.
There are few Dunkirk veterans moored in Ramsgate harbour, most of which are in a much worse state of preservation that those cared for old ladies in the pictures..

I'd love to get my hands on one but i guess they hold thier price ( out of my range ) even if they are in serious disrepair .

+1

I've been watching a chap renovate a beautiful old wooden cruiser moored at the end of his garden between Sonning & Shiplake locks (by the narrow/shallow cut close to Charvil).

Boat called Quest.....lovely thing: seems to be working on it on the water every time I go past...

Thanks for posting photos. Made up for us not being able to go along this year due to school commitments. It really is the highlight of the Dunkirk Little Ships annual calendar.

I had a quick chat with the Lady on Knottingley . She was saying how great it is to own one and be part of it all . I said i would be putting the pictures on here . Hopefully they will remember but i'm not sure they know of the site / forum .
Saying that i'm not sure they where part of the little ships although they seemed to be with them .

First class photo quality Cuchilo. We were going downstream at Sunbury lock at the same time MTB 102 was going upstream.Unfortunately we were going down she was going up in the comercial lock, so we did not get the view of her we wanted.
But what we did get was the sonerous music of her engines as she left the lock. What must she sound like at WOT!
Passed all the following 'ADLS' making their way upstream to Weybridge Mariners - plenty of gongs on display and a salute and enthusiastic waves
to every boat that past them - a snapshot insight into the past and a floating museum.

All credit to Weybridge Mariners who have commited to continuing this event until to the last surviving Dunkirk veteran. And even then who knows?

Just click on the picture and select all sizes . I select medium . Then left click on that for properties . The mountain thingy above the reply box on this board gives you the image tags to paste your copy into.

Re "Quest" mentioned earlier, used to be a very interesting boat with brass controls within wheelhouse - wheels, levers etc. I've got a copy of "Waterways World" with "Quest" dominating the front cover. Would be great to see it out and about again.

The advantage with all of these wooden boats is that they can all be restored quite easily although of course it costs. L'Orage for example was in a quite bad state before the current owners had her restored.

Interesting! Next time I go past I will stop and have a word if the owner is there. From what I can see the inside appears to have been painted and he's now working on the outside.

I will post a note if I get any news......lovely little boat which I'd be more than happy to say I own:D
