Hi,

An update on Duncan's progress after his confrontation with the white flare:

He continues to get stronger by dint of physio and exercise, which is made very hard by the continuing severe pain from the wound caused by the flare; this is taking a long time to heal. However, he did go home last weekend, just to make a short break from hospital walls!

He is still on morphine, and sometimes sounds very groggy. His boat is now on the hard, I called him to say she looked fine - and his first thought, even when half asleep, was " Are the electrics plugged in?" Typical boat owner!

It appears that when he was admitted to hospital they gave him 2 days at most....sheer bloody mindedness and a super surgical team, not to mention the prayers of family and friends, have pulled him through.

He is very keen to support the purchase of a new ventilator for Wexham Park Hospital, having practically worn out the current one.

The details of the appeal are on the weblog maintained by his family - see the link below (entry for 28th July). So far £10,600 has been raised, which is brilliant. But - these things cost £40,000! So any contribution would be very welcome, please help if you can.

I have been watching the website and have been amazed at how Duncan has pulled through this. I am glad he is on the mend. I hope Pains Wessex have some good cash reserves!!!
