Hi all,
I have just been given a Dunlop Seamaster 4 person liferaft in a canister and was wondering whether to keep it , get it serviced, etc and use it, or just throw it away. There is a label on it which says it was last serviced in 1989, but it is in pretty good external order, and it has a Solas B label on it also. What do you guys reckon ? Keep or chuck it ?
Also, any ideas on someone near to Gosport who could service it ??
Many thanks,
Matt.

I use a Dunlop Lifepac 4 which was made in 1984 and is serviced every 2 yrs. The people who service it say it is an excellent raft and there is no reason to consider changing it. You should be looking at around £120 for a service inc parts, what may be worthwhile is getting it 'checked' by a service station and getting their opinion before committing yourself, they are the experts after all.

Not in your area I am afraid.
I use SEMS in Basildon but would think a look at the classifieds in PBO or Sailing Today will give you the names of some companies.
